LUPL
eLitigation Notifications
ROLE UX/UI Designer
TOOLS Whimsical, Figma, Confluence, Miro, Figjam
Context The client Singapore’s Ministry of Law wanted eLitigation notifications integrated into Lupl's app. With this integration, Lupl need to integrate the notifications from the external source and present that data in a way that is easy for users to understand and use.
The Challenge
The complex and unstructured notifications from eLigitation make it difficult for users to act on the information efficiently. The challenge is to deliver timely, secure data within Lupl while transforming it into a clear, intuitive, and actionable in-app experience.
My Role
Led end-to-end UX/UI design from concept to engineering handoff, including:
-
Collaborated with scrum master, product owner and other leads for discovery and scope on a weekly basis
-
Produced low-, mid-, and high-fidelity designs to support ideation, review, and user testing
-
Presented wireframes and concepts in internal brainstorming and review sessions
-
Built high-fidelity prototypes for usability testing and validation
-
Partnered with UX research by supporting and observing user interviews to identify key pain points
-
Iterated designs based on research insights and testing feedback
-
Collaborated closely with engineering to support implementation and deliver final design updates

First Round of Testing High Fidelity Designs
Since, Lupl is a legal tech app, our participants ranged from admin to paralegals to lawyers.
Main take aways from our participants:
-
Many case updates would coordinate to one individual tasks, users had mentioned
-
They would like the feature to be as simple as possible.

Key Changes made after testing
Second round of testing went much better. The simplified prototypes came with less frustration and users completed tasks ease. Some users asked if one day to take it a step further and be able to place case information straight into individual cases.
The major change in this iternation is to have a "group" functionality to Share to matter.
Now being able to quickly select multiple updates at a time cuts down time for the user and creates less repeated tasks.

Result
Client and lawyers were happy with new feature. Along with shipping tested prototypes, we also had other functionality such as creating a group and undoing a share
Along with the new feature to Share to Matter, other features were created for development:
-
Filtering for the types of cases/updates
-
Key screens of sharing updates to matters
-
Key behavior screens for single message vs bulk message actions
-
Option menu including viewing full message and undo last action
-
Full Settings menu for matters showing how to manage team including inviting and deleting team members
-
An easy way to stop the updates
-
Empty and Error states
-
Design all features for web app and iOS
Next Steps
Next steps were to add other features such as being able to "Add to Milestone" or "Share in Message."
New features were part of the roadmap for the next Q1 to go live.
